CONCERT SCHEDULE

2024-2025 AUDITIONS

Established in December 2023, the Preparatory String Orchestra (PSO), conducted by Mrs. Ashley Rhoden of Spartanburg District Five, is a string-only ensemble and the very beginning level of the CYS orchestras. The PSO aims to develop young and confident violin, viola, cello, and bass players and teach string-specific techniques such as bow usage, styles, and techniques. In addition, students will develop collaborative playing habits and learn to follow a conductor. Students entering this ensemble should be comfortable performing notes of the one Octave D, G, and C scales, understand and read basic music pitch and rhythmic notation, and demonstrate good tone with the bow.

If you are interested in joining the PSO, please complete the PSO Audition Application for the 2025 PSO ensemble. Auditions on November 24, 2024, will be held at the Daniel Music Building on the Furman University Campus.

Auditions for the 2024-2025 season (SO, CO, RO) were held on in May 2024. After June 2024, all auditions for the 2024-25 season will be by video submission as needed.
