The Carolina Youth Symphony Orchestra

The CYS Symphony Orchestra is our most advanced ensemble. It is comprised of approximately 100 outstanding players whose technical level is highly advanced and who show strong musicianship. The group performs a wide range of demanding orchestral repertoire and is conducted by Artistic Director Professor Simón Gollo.

The Carolina Youth Symphony Concert Orchestra

The CYS Concert Orchestra is our intermediate ensemble. It is comprised of approximately 100 outstanding players who show strong musicianship. The group performs a wide range of demanding orchestral repertoire and is conducted by Mr. James Kilgus.

The Carolina Youth Symphony Repertory Orchestra

The CYS Repertory Orchestra is an entry-level orchestra comprised of approximately 100 outstanding players who show strong musicianship. The group performs a wide range of demanding orchestral repertoire and is conducted by Ms. Ginger Greer.

The Carolina Youth Symphony Preparatory String Orchestra

The CYS Preparatory String Orchestra is a string-only ensemble that trains young, confident string players and teaches string specific techniques such as bow usage, styles and techniques.  Additionally, students will develop collaborative playing habits and learn how to follow a conductor.  The orchestra is led by Mrs. Ashley Rhoden.
